The school semester has ended and it’s time for the long awaited three month break! For college students, there are plenty of ways to make good use of your summer break.
Go for a summer exchange programme
Many universities have partnerships with each other, and students can make use of their break to go for a summer exchange programme, which is a shorter version of the Student Exchange Programme (SEP) which allows students to experience life and culture in a different city for a few weeks.
Find an internship
One of the best ways to spend your summer vacation is to gain work experience and boost your resume. Many companies prefer graduates with work experience, and a good way to gain experience before graduating would be to find an internship. Besides, interning at a company can help you to gain an understanding of the industry and whether or not you are really suited for the role.
Volunteer
Another great way to spend your summer vacation would be to volunteer, whether in a local organisation or overseas. Volunteering overseas is a great way to understand different cultures and to gain a deeper appreciation of your own, while helping others at the same time.
Special term
If you would like to graduate earlier, some universities allow you to take special terms, where you can fulfil modular credits towards graduation during the summer vacation. Some students choose to do this because it will help them to take a shorter number of years to complete their programme.
Pick up a new hobby
All work and no play makes life boring. Make full use of the summer break to pick up a new skill or hobby that you have always wanted to.
